Red vs. Green = Torn

I am just sitting down to watch my beloved Spain go up against Ireland.

Torn.  I always have a hard time rooting for the Goliaths of any competition.  For some reason, I love an upset.  There is nothing better than seeing the little guys defy expectation and derail the status quo. However, there is also something to be said about loving a team before they've had success to see them blow away the competition.  I fell in love with the Spanish National Team in 2006, and I haven't been disappointed too much (The first world cup 2010 game was deflating, but they bounced back).

Anyways,  I love Ireland.  I have been there twice, and I didn't want to come back.

I have been to Spain, and despite the extreme and sad language barrier, I long for that place too!

Clearly an old picture but YAY anyway!

Ummm time out...Torres just scored  in the fourth minute!!!!!  EL NINO!!! ETC.!!!

I was going to talk about how important showing form and skill would be in this game for Fernando Torres, but hey we're already there.  I think the world could use a reminder of his brilliance on the field.

If anything is to be learned from this goal, he needs delivery.  That is the problem at Chelsea.  Too bad, he and Alonso aren't on the same club team.  Not that I really want Alonso at Chelsea, but that seemed to be a dynamic force on the pitch while at Liverpool.

Also, I wish Stephen Hunt was starting.  He's pretty rough and tumble, and that would be interesting to watch against Spain.

I love that the announcer just said, "Well whatever happens here, the Irish fans will enjoy themselves anyway." Ha.

David Silva just scored!  The announcer claims, Spain is coasting to the win.  I hope Torres gets  hat trick.

Fabregas!

4-0 in the end.  Torres scored two.  Good day for me.  Not a good day for the green.  The announcer was right though.  They were the loudest fans I have heard so far.  They had a great time.
